St Luke's is inviting people to remember the life of a loved one by dedicating a light in their memory at the Hospice's Light up a Life online service.

The annual service, which is normally attended by hundreds of supporters, will this year be held online only due to Covid-19.

Dr Andrea Graham, Director of Clinical Services at the Hospice, said: "Each and every year we have gathered outside the Hospice for our Light up a Life service in memory of those we have loved and lost. It is an incredibly important annual event for our Hospice and has provided much comfort over the years. Sadly this year we cannot gather at the Hospice, but we are extending a warm invite to our online service."

The service of remembrance will be available to view on the Hospice website and Facebook page from 6pm on Sunday 6th December. Anyone can make a donation in memory of someone special, they do not need to have been cared for by St Luke's.

Dr Andrea added: "We know that the service will be different this year, but we feel it is important to take time to reflect and remember and we want to make it as special and comforting as possible. We will of course light a beautiful tree of light at the hospice as always.

"The community's support will mean more to the Hospice than ever this year, as we face new challenges and adapt the ways we work in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Please consider dedicating a light on our tree by making a donation to St Luke's, so we can continue to provide comfort, care, advice and a listening ear to patients and their families going through the hardest of times."
Each person dedicating a light will receive a ‘Light up a Life at Home' pack. The name of their loved one will also be entered into an online Book of Memories alongside the names and dedications of others, and will be available to view on the Hospice website following the online service.
