KIND hearted colleagues at a south Cheshire firm pulled out all the stops to support needy families in the area.

Team members at The County Group in Crewe organised a Christmas food collection.

The initiative supported St Paul's Pantry in Crewe which helps local families in crisis with emergency food parcels distributed through a network of local churches.

The company, which employs more than 70 people on Crewe Business Park, staged a push for donations on its Christmas jumper day and employees answered the call, turning up for work loaded with carrier bags of food.

Managing director Alastair Christopherson said: "St Paul's do sterling work supporting families and hopefully this effort will go some way to supporting those who struggle to put basics on the table."

The County Group is a long-term sponsor of Nantwich Town FC and Nantwich Cricket Club and supporting grass roots causes is part of a mission statement wholeheartedly backed by staff.

The workforce has fundraised for many causes in recent years including Save the Children, Cancer Research, Macmillan Cancer Support, MIND and RNLI.

They have stage coffee mornings, baked cakes, performed parachute jumps, run marathons and given up drink for a whole year for sponsorship.

They have also collected toys and clothes for families in need and female staff happily donated a number load of bras for the Against Breast Cancer appeal.
